Weigh You Down, the story of a man and his life (Download)
I’ll sing you something I don’t understand
sing how life has treated a man
and oh, oh pain
you weigh me down
born a poor man musician by trade
got my earth and my music to play
and my love, my love
learned to work with my hands and my brain
went to school told to think just the same
but my heart led away from this fate
mother told me that life’s just a game
find a wife have some kids to your name
father told me that life has no glory
unless you got something to say
I believed him and followed my will
through the jungles that evil instilled
through the cold night and equally dark skies
I found my way
And I stared at their shivering bones lit by candlelight
Hidden from fear and from fright
Waiting for what happens next
Oh the fear in their eyes of the fear of their death
and these people they said that they are all wrong
they said that love is all gone
they said that hope is so wrong
and I know that I’m right and I know that you’re wrong
and I listened to them and knew they were lies
they could feel themselves fall they could feel their demise
and come judgement call well they knew they were wrong
and they knew they were scared cuz they never did fall
so they made all these rules they’ll punish by death
all the people they rule so they’ll never forget
they’re so scared of their fall oh the
kings oh the kings they’re so scared
of their fall
so the people they suffer with nothing to say
and they fall and say its ok
when they crawl so scared of the light
so they run from the morning to stay in the night
so I walked down the alley guitar in my hand
and I played them a song of freedom and land
and the hope in their bones and the love in the world
and I said you go sing to your boys and your girls
and I told them of places they never did see
and I told them to fight for you and for me
and I told them to fight with the love of the world
and I said never you hurt all the boys and the girls
so I spread the word through love and through song
of the peace of the world that we all live upon
and I sad when belief is all that you got
you can hold on to that and you’ll never get lost
